Tales Of Good And Evil

Chapter 2 - Eternalys!

"Alright," King Yama said. "I will tell you about the world that I am sending you to, and about Cain. It is called Eternalys and it is one of the many worlds that exist. The reason why I am sending you to Eternalys and not any other world is because Cain is imprisoned in it, and I want you to kill him the moment that he breaks out as that will be the time when he will be at his weakest."

Richard nodded his head in understanding. "I see," he said. "But, who exactly is this Cain and why do you need me and Jonal to kill him? Can't you kill him yourself?"

King Yama heavily breathed out before saying, "Cain is a human that was born and lived in the time when there used to be only a single world. He needs to be killed because as I said, he will destroy Eternalys, your world and all the other words. And the only one that can kill him is another human. Only you can kill him, Richard."

"What about Jonal?" Richard said.

"Jonal was a failure in all the lives that he lived," King Yama said. "He can't possibly kill him. Only you can. Let me ask again, Richard. Do you have any abilities that you wish to have?"

"No," Richard said. "You can send me over into Eternalys now."

King Yama raised his arm and a pen once again appeared in his hand. He wrote something in the opened black book and Richard was engulfed in a sphere of darkness. His consciousness slipped away.

Richard slowly opened his eyes. The first thing that entered his eyes was the full moon hanging up in the night's clear sky.

"It's night?" Richard mumbled. Then, he noticed the HUD elements that he saw before.

Moving his eyes to the top-right corner of his view where the small icon was, Richard focused on it. Following his action, a window opened, taking up his entire view. In this window, there were seven buttons, out of which and were greyed out.

Richard focused on the button – and another window opened. In the centre of this window, he saw a model that looked exactly like him, and to the right and the left of the model, he saw item slots, out which three were occupied.

Below the model, Richard saw his name, race, class, level and title, and below his name, race, class, level and title, he saw his health, attributes, affinities and skills.

Below the skills, Richard saw a question mark. "What's this?" he thought and focused on it. Another window which was an explanation window opened and he read all the explanations.

The first explanation was the attribute explanation.

Strength increased physical skill damage, physical auto-attack damage and physical critical strike damage. Dexterity increased physical skill damage, attack speed of auto-attacks and physical critical strike chance. Intellect increased magical skill damage, magical skill critical strike damage. Knowledge increased magical skill critical strike chance and maximum mana. Vitality increased maximum health and reduced the duration and effectiveness of curses and poisons. Endurance reduced critical damage taken. Charisma increased follower damage. Spirit increased health and mana regeneration.

The second explanation was the affinities explanation.

Each affinity increased resistance to the attacks of that affinity or increased his damage using attacks of that affinity.

The third explanation was the item explanation.

All items had one of the seven grades, they were either: common, uncommon, rare, epic, artefact, legendary or ancient. All items of all grades gave armour if it was an armour and had damage if it was a weapon. With each item grade, the given armour or had damage, increased. Additionally, items with grade: uncommon and higher, would increase attributes. Uncommon grade items increased one attribute. Rare grade items increased one attribute as well, but by a higher amount than uncommon grade items. Epic grade items increased two attributes, but by the same amount as rare grade items. Artefact grade items increased two attributes as well, but by a higher amount than epic grade items and also grew together with the wielder. Legendary grade items increased two attributes as well, but by a higher amount than artefact grade items and also had a special ability. Ancient grade items increased three attributes and by a higher amount than legendary grade items and grew together with the wilder and some even had special abilities. Items also could be enchanted from +1 all the way to +10.

The fourth explanation was the skill explanation.

To use one skill or the other, one simply had to focus on that skill.

Closing the explanation window and characters window, Richard opened his inventory. But there was not a single item in it. He closed the inventory window and opened his quests by focusing on the button . In it, there was one quest.

"I gave you my word, King Yama," Richard thought.

King Yama leaned back into his chair and closed his eyes. "Please be strong enough to kill Cain, because only you can," he mumbled under his breath.
