The Legendary Ruler

Chapter 21 - The proposal

Hearing the young voice, the elder immediately stopped his outburst.

"Anvil Prince, you finally appeared"- The old man coldly smiled as he stared at the purple-haired youth in front of him, without demonstrating the proper respect towards Henry, a prince and the ruler of the Anvil Nation.

Henry felt disgusted as he looked at those foul yellow teeth inside the man's mouth.

The people in this world used Qi to take care of their oral health and hygiene. So, Henry didn't understand how and why this old man still ended up with those frightful and disgusting things inside his mouth. He felt like throwing up.

"I come here on behalf of my Sect Head to ask for the Anvil Kingdom assistance"- The elder snorted as he said in disdain to the young prince in front of him.

It was a rare occurrence to see a Sect asking for a secular Kingdom's help. Most of them thought that they were the chosen ones to lead the world and, therefore, they treated the people with no affinity to cultivation like slaves, with no right to know and decide their own future.

So they seldom lowered themselves to ask for the help of a Kingdom. Because of that, Henry was quite interested in the motive. It couldn't be just because of a single Tang Clan.

The elder also didn't understand why the Head would ask for help from these weak beings. They could just order all their disciples and subordinates to search this whole area and if any problems aroused, the Sect could just burn this Kingdom to ashes.

"Let's find out"- Henry thought as he strode towards the throne.

The old man scornfully as he watched the purple-haired young man sitting on the throne and crossing his legs, like a boss wanting to reaffirm his superiority.

"A request from the Flying Sword Sect...I wonder what made the mighty Flying Sword Sect come to my Kingdom"- Henry placed his hands on his chin and leaned against the throne arm as if he was trying to guess what it was.

"Recently, our subordinates relayed some exciting news. An Inheritance Ground was found near the Yakun Province of your kingdom"- The elder calmly explained, however, the excitement in his eyes betrayed his serious expression.

"An Inheritance Ground?"- Henry curiously asked. He wasn't familiar with this word.

"Inheritance Grounds are mysterious places created by cultivators from previous eras that holds their legacies. If a person is lucky enough to pass the tests and inherit the legacy, they will ascend to the heavens in a single step"

"The Flying Sword Sect's founder was one such person."- The old man explained. His eyes were filled with respect and worship as if he was talking about his own father.

"He inherited his cultivation technique from a powerful ancient sword cultivator named Flying Sovereign and after a few hundred years of practice, he constructed the Flying Sword Sect before ascending to the Upper Realm"

The elder finished his narration, however, Henry knew that this old man omitted a huge portion from the story.

The Flying Sword Sect's founder probably faced uncountable obstacles before he achieved the necessary strength to create a Sect powerful enough to contend against the other Sects.

"So, what do you need?"- Henry thoughtfully asked.

"Although we know of the existence of an Inheritance Ground. The precise location is still a mystery. We want you to dispatch a recognition team to find it"- The elder was like a noble giving orders to a plebian.

Henry didn't seem to mind the tone. He entered in a contemplative state of mind.

It is really weird... Why are they asking for our help? They could just spread their disciples through the region and tell them to search for it...I can understand...unless…

A small smile escaped from Henry's lips as he discovered the real motive for their request

"If you help us finding it, we can promise to award you three Earth-Level Combat Manuals"- The old man said, lifting three of his fingers.

"I agree"- Henry immediately complied with the terms.
