The Sun-Moon Spear God

Chapter 4 - Spirit Awakening Ceremony

Chen Xin's POV...

Finally I was 6 years old!! The six years that I spent in this new life felt like the longest years I have ever felt.

Being a baby again with full knowledge of what I was doing was a very embarrassing experience for me since I was a fully grown man in my previous life. Not having the ability to move or talk as I wanted to or the worst being my inability to control my bladder for the first year nearly made me kill myself from embarrassment.

Still once I was a year old I was able to walk and run for a short while now that my body was strong enough for it. I started basic exercises for training my body as soon as I could which happened when I was two. It took me a year of continuous training to even be at the lowest threshold to cultivate the sun-moon spear art. The main reason for it was that it wasn't just a spirit energy cultivation technique, it also tempered the body more and more along with refining my spirit energy with each level.

The sun-moon art cultivated to the peak theoretically made the body as strong as a weapon of divine origin where only attacks on the levels of gods in par with the cultivator or a weaker god with the destruction attribute could lethally injure the body.

The only flaws, if they could even be called flaws were that first, it was very painful to temper the body with energy as the body was continuously assaulted by controlled bursts of spirit energy which broke and remade muscles and bones to temper them, and second, that unless the body was sufficiently tempered one could not breakthrough to the next level as each level of the art required the body to be tougher than the previous level.

The sun-moon spear art used the energy of the sun for the tempering of the body and the gentle energy of the moon for the refinement of spirit energy to make it easier to control while making it stronger.

It was a very high level of a cultivation technique since I did not know if any other technique in my previous life which could compare to it.

The first level of the art comprised of 12 stances which had to be done while revolving spirit energy a specific way as mentioned to cultivate the body in the day and a energy refining technique which complemented the first to be done at night.

Last month, when I had almost completed the first layer of the art, and was about to breakthrough the layer, the energy remained in place as if it was locked by something and couldn't move. A few days later I heard the a.d.u.l.ts talking about how the spirit awakening ceremony would be conducted now that the kids were 6 years old.

As I heard it, I remembered what the spear spirit had told me before it went to recover, about how I would not be able to cultivate the art above a limit before I awakened my spirit. And so, I asked the a.d.u.l.ts about how the spirit masters became stronger and they told me about the ring system of cultivation which led me to assume that the current scenario would repeat for me at each 10th rank, as cultivators needed a new ring after reaching that threshold to increase their rank again.

A month passed by with me repeating my routine, because why not, it wasn't stated that any cultivation that was done would be wasted now did it. I doubted that I would jump ranks immediately after awakening my spirit since my spirit would need a spirit ring but once i did get it, I was sure I would shoot to a higher rank.

I wasn't sure about my hypothesis since it was made from the point of view of my previous life, but I believed that it was true.

The day finally arrived. The spirit awakening ceremony would be conducted today and all children of 6 years and above who hadn't yet awakened their spirits were gathered in the village head's house as that's where the spirit master from the Nuoding Academy had taken residence.

I could see quite a few children with some being a year older and most of them being the same age as me. There were around 30 kids and we were being brought to the large room where the ceremony would take place.

As I reached the room, I could see the spirit master who had come to the village. He was a man who had already started showing signs of old age so I guessed he must be pretty old as spirit masters kept their youth for longer than the mortals did.

The old man started calling the children one by one, with the first being a kid I remembered in the orphanage, the old man placed a hand on his head and did something which generated light and then behind the boy a shovel which was glowing appeared and then disappeared. The old man looked like he had expected this and told the kid to pour spirit power into an orb he had kept in front of him. There was a number that came up as "1" in the air and the old man showed a disappointed face. He announced " Shovel spirit with Innate spirit power of 1" which told me that the orb measured spirit power level.

The ceremony went ahead with the kids having similar spirit power levels with the highest being "4". The spirits that they had were t very interesting either with many having very common animal beast spirits of cats and common snakes and some having hammers and axes as tool spirits.

Finally at last was my turn as I had wanted everyone else to be done before me, as the old man kept a hand on my head, I felt an energy entering my body which shot to an area in my head which I hadn't realised was there before, as if it had been just brought to the light. The feeling vanished soon after with a beautiful spear which seemed like a simplistic version of the one I had seen in my mindscape before appeared behind my back. I could also feel there was something else but it still felt half asleep and didn't materialise.

The old man had a look in his eye which showed that he was surprised and excited but suppressed it until he could see the innate spirit power.

As I kept my had on the orb and started sending spirit power in it, the orb glowed bright and showed a number "10" in the air. The old man shouted with his face excited " Spear Spirit with Innate Full Spirit Power". He then wrapped up the ceremony and told me to come to the Nuoding Academy as a student as soon as possible while giving me a letter. As I informed him that I couldn't pay the fees for the school l, he told me that I could become a working student and wouldn't need to pay fees.

The villagers tried to convince me that the village would pay it for me but I didn't want to depend on the village more than absolutely necessary.

And a few days later, I had packed all of my stuff and was ready to leave. As I reached the gate of the orphanage, the matron came to me and gave me a bag which she said was filled with everything she could preserve about my parents and some money which was my inheritance from my parents.

It wasn't much as most of it was given to the orphanage as a donation according to my mother's final wishes, it was enough for me to survive for a long time if I spent it correctly.

Then I bade farewell to everyone I knew in the village and left for Nuoding Academy which would be my first stop to become a spirit master and then a GOD.
