Time Traveling Hero

Chapter 10 - Unnamed Boy Attends To The Mysterious Girl

I leapt off Raijin, who landed in the backyard, and rushed to the front door. She must be here already, and I would normally prepare for her arrival, but damn Eris had been distracting me so much lately that it completely slipped my mind.

I slammed open the door, breathing hard. I quickly took off my shoes and left my bag at the door before rushing to the living room (don't worry, I closed the door behind me).

And laying there on the couch, with long white hair and skin as pale as the moon, her silver eyes glistening like a full moon reflected on a calm lake, was Luna.

Or at least, another version of her.

This version was older than the adorable lil' sis that I knew, with a c.h.e.s.t more endowed than Eris, and about 17 years old, this was what happened to my lil' sis near full moons. She also had a new moon self, but that's for a later date.

"Oh, big bro, you're back," she said lazily, eating a bag of potato ch.i.p.s while watching some soap opera.

"Luna, sorry I'm late. I got held up at school today," I hastily explained while making my to the couch.

She made room for me on the couch, and I sat down next to her. She eyed me from the side. "What's wrong? Normally you would rush me and snuggle up next to me while screaming out 'Oh lil' sis, you're just too adorable!' or something."

She looked at me expectantly, as if waiting for something.

I sighed before smiling. "Alright, come here you," before she leapt at me with open arms. Even in this form, she was still my lil' sis at heart

I gently stroked her head as she was snuggling up to me, purring like a cat. "You weren't too lonely, were you?"

"Now that big bro is here, I'm all good!"

She released me, relief filling her moon-like eyes. "I didn't worry you, did I?"

"You'll always worry me. I'm your big bro after all!" I said, giving her my signature grin and thumbs up.

"Can we order food today?"

"Whatever you want," I replied.

"Then, how about pizza?"

"Extra sauce right?"

She smiled. "You know me so well big bro."

Nodding in response, I got up and went towards the house phone in the kitchen before ordering the pizza. After I was done, I sat down and rubbed my hands over my face before resting my chin on my hands.

My sister Luna had gotten cursed at a young age. It didn't take effect until her 10th birthday. Ever since then, around the full moon and new moon, she would change form, changing to fit the full and new moon. She hasn't left the house in over four years now, her curse terrifying her of the outside world. Of course, now the situation has gotten worse...

I looked over at the couch, where Luna was now watching a game show. I still remember, after her 14th birthday, the way she pleaded at me.

With tears streaming down her face, a look of pure despair and sadness filling her entire being, she begged me.

"Please, help me."

I still got angry over that memory. I had already vowed to myself that I would find the culprit, but after that, I had started to seriously think about my sister and her condition. After her 14th birthday, she stopped aging, her final hope of living a normal life.

I pulled out my key, and the emotions that he held underneath the surface tempted to flood out at that moment, but the Unnamed Boy kept them in, only renewing his resolve as a result.

I put my key back and made my way back to the couch, where Luna was looking up at me expectantly. "What took you so long?"

"Sorry, I was thinking about how cute you are in whatever form you take," I responded before relaxing into the couch.

She pouted. "Big bro never changes, does he? Whether this one or the other one."

I frowned at her statement. While in her new/full moon forms, she would often say stuff like this. However...

"What exactly do you mean by 'the other one'?"

With a "hmphh!" she turned away, pouting at my statement, her adorable features reminiscent on her now older face. "I'm not telling you. It's your fault for leaving me alone so long anyway..." she trailed off, her face now somber.

I hated that look. That look of sadness that would occasionally come over her face, the look that longed to be normal.

I decided to change the subject. "Anyway, how was your day. The usual, or did you also do that something extra that you mentioned earlier?"

She tensed up a little bit at my question before relaxing. "Yeah, I did that extra thing, I've been doing it for a while now. It's quite fun actually!" she said, perking up a little bit.

"That's good. Care to explain?"

She winked at me before sticking out her tongue. "It's a secret!"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Aren't you a little too old to be doing that at your age?"

She stuck out her bottom lip. "Hey, I'm still your lil sis, no matter the age."

"It's kinda hard to say that when right now you're clearly older than me."

"So, does that mean I can be like Eris?"

"No!" I yelled out, vehemently putting down that statement. "Little sisters aren't meant to act like that damn woman. Stay your cute adorable self for all eternity I say!"

"But I always wanted to be like 'I need my dose of my cute lil bro!' or 'I love you so much lil bro!' like Eris does," she said, imitating Eris before lunging at me.

"Oh yeah? Well, I guess you deserve the same treatment as that woman then, huh?" I said before starting my tickle attack.

"Eh! Wait, I'm not! Haha, hahah!" she said before busting down into laughter, and I couldn't help but join her in the laughter.

I heard the doorbell ring while me and Luna were messing around, and I managed to shake her off before heading to the door.

Still chuckling at the situation, I opened the door to grab the pizza when-

"Here you are sir, your two boxes of-! Oh hey, it's you!"

Standing at the door was Caelus, dressed in his uniform from presumably his job. He had a shocked expression on his face when he realized who it was.

"... Whoa, I didn't realize you could smile."

I scowled at his statement. "Shut up Cae. I didn't realize you worked. I guess that's why your grades suck."

He handed me the pizza before responding. "You know, you kinda worried us there for a second. We couldn't even find you afterward. How did you leave so fast?"

"I have my ways," I said vaguely before starting to shut the door.

"Hey, wait just a second!" He stopped me from closing the door, and I reluctantly let it open again.

"What is it? I'm kinda hungry here, and you have a job to do don't you?"

Cae looked at me suspiciously before answering. "It's pretty obvious that you're trying to hide something. If I were you, I wouldn't let the Prez find out about it. She'll hunt you down and force you to cooperate like she did today."

Well, that was unexpected. He's actually trying to help me, I thought. "You don't need to worry. So long as you don't spill where I live, it should be fine. Besides, no one else knows..." I trailed off when I realized my problem.

"Shit, Pinkie knows where I live," I grumbled.

"Eh? How does she know that?"

Before I could answer, I heard Luna call out to me. "Big bro, what's taking you so long? I'm hungry!"

Cae looked confused. "Who was that?"

I tensed up before quickly closing the door. "No one, have a nice day!"

"Hey-!" The door slammed shut, and I quickly locked it before breathing a sigh of relief.

Luna came out from the living room and frowned at me. "Why were you taking so long just to grab pizza?"

I made a small smile. "Nothing you need to worry about lil' sis," I responded, making my way to the dining room with Luna in tow.

I grabbed two plates and set them at our places at the table. "What do you want to drink?" I asked, getting two cups.

"Lemonade of course!"

I grabbed soda for me and lemonade for my sis and got a glass of each before putting them back into the fridge. I handed her the lemonade and sat next to her. I grabbed 4 slices of pizza before digging in.

"It's so good!" my adorable sis proclaimed as she happily ate her slices of pizza. While I preferred her home cooking, seeing her in a god mood was more than enough to make me happy for now.

I watched as she ate her pizza and couldn't help but smile. Yeah, my lil' sis is adorable no matter what the age, I thought to myself. Although my parents say I spoil her too much, I can't really help myself, especially considering her condition. She really only had me to talk to, and so I really couldn't help but try to make her happy.

"What're you doing big bro? Trying to sneak a peek at your lil' sis's body?"

Although, her personality while in this form was rather... strange to say the least. "Nope, just thinking about how cute you are when you're eating, even with sauce on your cheek," I replied before wiping the sauce off and eating it off my fingers.

"Hmph! Looks like my womanly charms aren't enough to charm you big bro! Congrats, you can now head pat me!"

I obliged and patted her head. She had an expression of pure bliss while I did it, purring like a cat.

"Seriously, why must you purr like a cat every time I do this to you?" I asked, stopping my head pats.

"Because big bro said cat-girls are cute, and the way they act is super moe? Anyway, I decided to purr like a cat ever since. Is that not okay?"

When the hell did I talk to her about cat-girls? "I mean, it is pretty cute, but I am having trouble trying to find out when I told about the gloriousness of cat-girls," I replied, taking a bite out of my second slice of pizza.

"That's a secret!" she said, sticking her tongue out and winking at me. She cheerfully chomped down on another slice of pizza, chewing happily.

I finished my second slice of pizza and drank some of soda before going "aah!". I noticed Luna looking at me, her face beaming at me.

"What's wrong? I don't mind you looking at me so happily, but growing girls need to eat too."

She shook her head, her long white hair jumbling together as a result. "I'm just glad I have big bro here with me. Somedays, I wish that you could stay home with me. We could play around, bantering like we normally do. You could dote on me as usual, and I would be sooo happy, and we could just spend the rest of our days in this house, just the two of us, with our parents coming to check up on us occasionally. After all, it's not like I can leave anyway...," she finished, her face turning somber.

That look again, the look of loneliness that would pass over her face whenever she thought I wasn't looking, the sad look she would give sometimes when I would leave for school, the look of longing as she would sometimes stare out the window, looking at the kids her age walking home, laughing and having fun.

That damn look. I gritted my teeth while clenching my hands into fists, anger welling up from the sea of emotions that he tried so hard to hide, all for his sister's sake. I took a deep breath before looking upon that look once more.

I wrapped my arms around my lil' sis, holding her close and tight to me. I stroked her head before announcing the resolve I had promised on that day, her 14th birthday.

"I told you, didn't I? I promised that I would most definitely save you, and allow you to enroll into high school before your 15th birthday, no matter what. So have faith in your big brother. You'll be able to leave this prison of yours soon enough," I said, putting my forehead against hers, looking at her silver eyes widen at my sudden proclamation.

"No matter the cost, I'll be the hero that set's you free from this castle of yours."
