Worlds Conquering Necromancer

Chapter 41 - The Ball

"Emily, it's pretty late already and the call should start at any minute. Would you like to go there now?" asked Abel politely.

"Of course, my prince, let's go. I promise that you'll have a night you won't ever forget!" she said with sarcasm, that the love-crazed Abel couldn't detect in her voice. They visited nearly all famous monuments and popular shops and stalls in the Themo city, while Abel was so immersed he didn't see that the midnight already came.

They departed towards the palace, where the ball would take place. When they approached the entrance to the palace, Edeline was already waiting for them impatiently.

"Abel, you know what an important mission we've got from father, why the f.u.c.k are you late?! And for f.u.c.k's sake, why have you brought that girl with you?" she asked angrily. She was responsible for today's negotiations, so she had to take care of her brother and Themo's royalty relationship.

"Sis, relax. Any problem that might arise today I will take upon myself. I finally found my other half, I don't want to lose her just because of father's order. If we can't cancel the engagement, I'll make them cancel it no matter what." he tried to appease his sister. Abel understood that she would be berated if he failed today, that's why he wanted to take all the responsibility on himself.

"Hoo... Brother, it's up to you. Please, don't do something you'll regret later..." she said, before going into the palace. Abel took Emily's hand and went in, too. There, Emily has seen a ball this magnificent for the first time in her life.

'I've been to a lot of parties in my previous life, graduation parties, and even different events organized by the rich guys of the school, but I have never seen such a beautifully decorated room, where even the participants are all wearing expensive, extravagant clothes.' Emily thought. This left her mouth agape, surprised by how beautiful a ball in this world could be.

"How is the high society's way to relax in your opinion? Don't you think it's fascinating? That also represents a chance for us to make new friendly relationsh.i.p.s with the other nobles and royal families." continued Abel. As they were a little late to the ball, the king already announced the start of the event. The people around were dancing in pairs, the middle of the room being empty.

"Emily, would you give me the honor of inviting you to a dance?" he asked kneeling on one leg, extending his hand forward.

"It would be a p.l.e.a.s.u.r.e, Abel." said Emily accepting his invitation to dance. They moved through the crowd, reaching the middle of the stage.

'Huh, I guess my dancing lessons from Earth would finally be useful...' she thought, before starting to dance. The dance was typical to the medieval Europe dances on earth, with small parts changed. It was easy enough for Emily to dance with her experiences from her previous life.

From all the pairs dancing on stage, their was attracting the most attention from the others. They really was a pair to remain amazed about. From the second floor, several pairs of eyes were watching their every move.

"How dare this little shit shame my beautiful daughter, even more, on her birthday, when he came with the purpose of proposing to her?!" said angrily King Fergus. He proposed this engagement hoping to get assistance in the war against the elves, but that didn't mean he would remain silent at such a provocation.

"Dad, I'm sure prince Abel has a certain motive for doing this. I mean, look at me! Would he fall in love with that black-haired wench or rather with me?!" said princess Madelina full of herself. As a princess, she was taught from childhood that she was one of the most important people in the kingdom. Even though she was very arrogant, it was true that she was a beauty rarely seen.

"So be it, my precious. I'll sent an attendant for him and his wench after the dance is over. We're going to have a talk with him!" he said reassuringly.

"Thanks dad, you're the best daddy in the world!"

While this pair of father and daughter was talking, Emily and Abel obtained everyone's attention, as even the pairs dancing around them stopped to make more place for them to dance. It was a sight to behold, as even Abel was amazed by Emily's skills at dancing.

"Emily, tell me the truth. You're not coincidentally a princess of a faraway kingdom?" Abel asked happily.

"Of course I'm not! I'm just pretty good at dancing because I practiced a lot!" she said, imitating a shy expression.

"A beauty like you, and with such dancing skills too... I must be the luckiest man in the world!"

"Hmm... Would you like to try something new?" she asked Abel, hearing an appropriate melody for her d.e.s.i.r.ed dance style. "It's nothing too hard, just let me show the direction you should be moving to. I promise you'll like it!"

"Well, if you say so. I'll let you take the lead!" he said, leaving everything to Emily. Emily wanted to try dance tango, as it was pretty different from the easy moves they had there. Even though it required synchronized moves from both partners, the other spectators didn't really know how it should be danced, so even if Abel would do mistakes, and he would, it wouldn't be that much of a problem.

*Gasp! Gasp!

*Calp-Clap-Clap!

The whole crowd was clapping for them, while the couple was gasping for air. No one from the entire crowd ever saw something similar to take place in a ballroom. It was something innovative and exquisite.

"T-that's something way t-too hard for a novice. W-who are you, Emily?" Abel asked in awe of her moves and mastery, as she was that good that she managed to help him understand the dance, too.

"That's a big, big secret, Abel. I'll tell you when the time comes!" This just further intrigued the poor boy, as he wanted to know more about her. Before he could ask more questions about her, a subordinate of the king came and invited them both to the upper floor. Abel was hoping that he managed to anger Fergus enough to cancel the engagement, but he was also afraid they would move against Emily. They wouldn't dare attack him, but a simple girl was another story.

"I understand, show us the way." he replied to the servant. When they reached the upper floor, they could see King Fergus accompanied by his beloved daughter, Madelina.

"Prince Abel, you've finally come!" Madelina ran and jumped, hugging him. She looked with a threatening glare at Emily, before concentrating on his beloved one.
